Effect of the percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage guided by ultrasound on bilirubin level and liver function in patients with obstructive jaundice

    • Objective: To investigate the effects of the percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage(PTBD) guided by ultrasound on bilirubin level and liver function in patients with obstructive jaundice. Methods: One hundred patients with obstructive jaundice were treated with PTBD,and all patients were followed up for 1 year. The short-term effect and survival time of patients were recorded, and the serum bilirubin level and liver function indicators in all patients were detected before and after treatment. Results: Compared with before treatment, the levels of serum total bilirubin and direct bilirubin of patients significantly decreased at different time-points after treatment(P<0.01).Compared with before treatment, all the liver function indicators of patients significantly decreased at different time-points after treatment(P<0.01).The effective rate of treatment at postoperative 1 and 2 weeks were 77.66% and 90.11%,respectively.Conclusions: The PTBD in the treatment obstructive jaundice is a safe and effective palliative treatment, which can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms and improve liver function.
