    Effect of group psychology counseling on the professional burnout and mental health of general nurses

    • Objective:To explore the effects of group psychology counseling on the professional burnout and mental health of general nurses.Methods:Forty general nurses from 10 community hospitals were tutored with the psychological counseling from June 2015 to June 2016.The professional burnout and mental health of general nurses were evaluated using the occupational burnout scale and symptom self-rating scale before and after the intervention.Results:The personalization,emotional exhaustion,personal accomplishment and job burnout in general nurses after the intervention were significantly lower than those before the intervention(P<0.01).The scores of somatization,interpersonal sensitivity,compulsion,depression,hostility,anxiety,horror,paranoia and psychosis in general nurses after intervention were significantly lower than those before intervention(P<0.01).Conclusions:The group psychology counseling can effectively improve the professional burnout and mental health of general nurses,which helps nurses to well cope with nursing work.
