Abstract
Objective:To investigate the clinical value of national early warning score(NEWS) in the shunting and predicting short-term outcome of emergency patients. Methods:The NEWS in 803 patients in emergency resuscitation room were investigated according to the initial vital signs. The patients were divided into the outpatient group, general ward group and intensive care unit group according to the emergency shutting. The inhospital patients were divided into the survival group and death group according to the improvement. The NEWS between all groups were compared, and the correlations of age and NEWS with death rate of patients were analyzed. Results:Among 803 patients, the outpatient group in 145 cases, general ward group in 481 cases and intensive care unit group in 177 cases were identified, the NEWS in general ward group and intensive care unit group were significantly higher than that in outpatient group(P<0.01),and the NEWS in intensive care unit group was higher than that in general ward group(P<0.01).Six hundred and fifty-eight cases were further treated after inhospital, the outhospital was set as the observation end,the survival in 585 cases and death in 73 cases were found, the difference of the age between two groups was not statistical significance(P>0.05),and the NEWS in survival group was significantly lower than that in death group(P<0.01).The results of binary logistic showed that the NEWS was positive correlation with the death rate of patients, whereas the age was not correlated with the death rate of patients(P>0.05).Conclusions:The NEWS has crucial clinical value in the shunting and predicting short-term outcome of emergency patients.
