Analysis of the related risk factors of neonatal multiple organ damage

    • Objective:To investigate the correlations between neonatal multiple organ damage(MOD),and birth weight(BW),gestational age(GA),1-and 5-minute Apgar scores. Methods:Two hundred and sixty-nine newborns with MOD were divided into the <1 500 g,1 500 g to <2 500 g,and 2 500 to 4 000 g groups according to BW,<32 weeks,32 to <37 weeks, and 37 to 42 weeks groups according to GA,and ≤ 7 and 8 to 10 scores of 1-minute and 5-minute groups according to the Apgar score. The incidence of MOD in each group was calculated. The incidence rates of the number of organ damage(2,3,or more than 3) in different BW and GA groups were compared. Results:With the increasing of BW and GA,the incidence rate of MOD decreased(P<0.01).With the decreasing of BW and GA,the incidence rate of number of organ damage(3,or more than 3) increased(P<0.01).The incidence rate of MOD in 1-minute and 5-minute Apgar scores ≤ 7 patients was more than that in 1-minute and 5-minute Apgar scores for 8 to 10 patients(P<0.01).Conclusions:Low BW,premature babies and low Apgar score, especially the low 5-minute Apgar score, are the risk fators of neonatal MOD.The incidence rate of MOD and number of organ damage are negatively correlated with BW and GA.
