Research on the relationship between the regional food intake and overweight/obesity of residents in Huangshan area

    • Objective:To investigate the current situation of regional food and local tea intake by residents in Huangshan area, discuss the relationship between the regional food intake and overweight/obesity rate, and provide basis for improving the healthy condition of residents. Methods:Using a convenient sampling method, five hundred and eighteen households from three districts and four counties of Huangshan area were selected, and a member who was over 40 years old from each family was selected as the research object. The food frequency questionnaire was used to record the intake frequency and amount of regional food for a year, which were converted into a standard adult daily intake. Results:The rate of overweight/obesity was 26.6%(38/518),and the rate of abdominal obesity was 28.76%(149/518).The difference of overweight/obesity rate in different age residents was statistically significant (P<0.05).While the difference of overweight/obesity rate in residents of different sex, education, smoking, drink and labor situation was not statistically significant(P>0.05),and the difference of abdominal obesity rate in residents of different sex, age, education, smoking, drink, sport and labor situation was also not statistically significant(P>0.05).The difference of overweight/obesity rate in residents with different intake frequency of Huangshan pancake and tea was statistically significant (P<0.05),while other regional foods did not obviously affect the overweight/obesity rate of residents(P>0.05).The result of logistic regression analysis indicated that the increasing frequency of Huangshan pancake intake was the risk factor of overweight/obesity(OR=1.432,P<0.05).Conclusions:The intake frequency of Huangshan pancake and tea maybe has some influences on the local residents' overweight/obesity.
