Abstract
Objective:To detect the serum levels of interleukin(IL)-37 and IL-33 in children with hand-foot-mouth disease(HFMD) caused by enterovirus 71 infection, and analyze its clinical significance. Methods:The absolute values of peripheral blood neutrophils and monocytes, and serum levels of IL-37 and IL-37 in 180 children with HFMD infected by EV71(observation group) and 100 healthy children(control group) were detected using the automatic blood cell analyzer and ELISA,respectively, and the correlations were analyzed. Results:The absolute values of neutrophils and monocytes, and serum levels of IL-37 and IL-33 in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.01).The absolute values of neutrophils and monocytes, and serum level of IL-37 in children with severe EV71 infection were higher than those in mild EV71 infection children(P<0.05 to P<0.01).The serum levels of IL-37 in observation group were positive correlation with the serum level of IL-33(P<0.05).In severe group, the serum level of IL-37 was positively correlated to the absolute value of monocytes(P<0.05),and the serum level of IL-33 was positively correlated to the absolute value of neutrophils(P<0.05).Conclusions:The changes of IL-37 and IL-33 levels in children with HFMD infected by EV71 may be related to the pathogenesis of HFMD.
