The level changes of interleukin-6 and heparin sulfate in plasma and blister fluid after scald

    • Objective: To explore the level changes of interleukin-6(IL-6) and heparin sulfate(HPSE) in plasma and blister fliud after scald, and relationship between levels of IL-6,HPSE and depth and severity of the scald wound. Methods: According to the depth of scald,39 scald patients were divided into the superficial Ⅱ degree group and deep Ⅱ degree group.Among the blister specimens, superficial Ⅱ degree in 23 cases and deep Ⅱ degree in 21 cases, and superficial Ⅱ degree in 18 cases and deep Ⅱ degree in 16 cases in plasma specimens were investigated. The levels IL-6 and HPSE in plasma and blister fluid were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(EⅡSA) after 1,3 and 5d of scald. Results: The levels of IL-6 and HPSE in blister fluid were significantly higher than those in plasma in scald patients(P<0.01).The level of IL-6 in blister fluid of patients with deep Ⅱ degree scald was significantly higher than that of patients with superficial Ⅱ degree scald patients(P<0.01),and the level of HPSE in blister fluid of patients with deep Ⅱ degree scald was significantly lower than that of patients with superficial Ⅱ degree scald patients(P<0.01 to P<0.05).Conclusions: The level of IL-6 in blister fluid at the early stage of scald is positively related to the depth and severity of scald. The more severe scald are,the higher the level of IL-6 is.The level of HPSE in blister fluid at the early stage of scald is negatively related to the time of wound healing. The bigger the scald area is,the better the healing is,and the shorter the time is.
