Effect of the horticultural therapy combined with rehabilitation therapy in stroke patients with unilateral spatial neglect

    • Objective:To observe the effects of horticultural therapy combined with rehabilitation intervention in stroke patients with unilateral spatial neglect(USN).Methods:Forty-six USN patients were randomly divided into the observation group and control group(33 cases each group). The control group were treated with routine rehabilitation, and the observation group were treated with horticultural therapy combined with rehabilitation. The mentality, exercise function and ability of daily living(ADL) in two groups before and after treatment were assessed using the Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA),and Modified Barthel Index(MBI) and Functional Independence Measure(FIM),respectively. Results:The differences of the scores of HAMD,FMA,and MBI and FIM between two groups before treatment were not statistically significant(P>0.05).After treatment, all items scores in two groups were significantly improved compared before treatment(P<0.01),and the improvement degree of which in observation group was significantly better than that in control group(P<0.01).Conclusions:During the rehabilitation training of USN,the horticultural therapy can improve the USN status and quality of life patient's,and which has important significance in the rehabilitation and prognosis of patients with stroke.
