Abstract
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of mouse nerve growth factor(mNGF) in the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia(PHN) in old patients. Methods:Fifty old patients with PHN were randomly divided into the observation group(n=25) and control group(n=25).The observation group were treated with 20 μg mNGF by intramuscular injection once a day,and the control group were treated with 500 μg vitamin B12 once a day for 14 days. The clinical efficacy in two groups were evaluated using visual analogue scale before and after treatment, and the adverse action in two groups were recorded. Results:The VAS score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01).The total effective rate, degree of pain relief and pain disappear time in observation group were significantly better those in control group(P<0.01).Conclusions:mNGF in the treatment of PHN was effective and safe.
