Abstract
Objective:To detect the gender differences of left ventricular morphology and function in young people using 2D-echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR),and compare the application value of the two methods. Methods:Fifteen male college students and 15 female college students were divided into two groups according to the gender. The left ventricular end-diastolic volume (EDV),end-systolic Volume(ESV),ejection fraction(EF),stroke volume(SV) and fractional shortening (FS) were detected using 2D-echocardiography and CMR,respectively. Results:The results of 2D-echocardiography and CMR showed that the left ventricular EDV in male group was higher than that in female group(P<0.05),and the differences of ESV,SV and EV between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05) after BSA calibration. The statistical results of the left ventricular EF,EVD and ESV values were positively correlated with the two imaging methods(P<0.01).Bland-Altman analysis showed that the left ventricular EVD,ESV and SV detected by 2D-echocardiography were lower than those by CMR.Conclusions:The left ventricular morphology and function in different gender young people are different. The value between 2D-echocardiography and CMR in the diagnosis of left ventricular morphology and function is similar, but which is not equivalent.
