Effect of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery on short-term efficacy and complication in patients with non-small cell lung cancer

    • Objective:To compare the short-term efficacy and complications between video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and conventional thoracotomy in treating non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods:Sixty patients with NSCLC were randomly divided into the observation group(n=30) and control group(n=30).The control group was treated with conventional thoracotomy, while the observation group was treated with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. The short-term efficacy and complications between two groups were compared. Results:The difference of operation time, intraoperative bleeding, number of resected lymph nodes and dioxin dosage in two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The day of postoperative pleural drainage over 50 mL,hospitalization time, and number of cases with arrhythmia, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, wound infection in observation group were less than those in control group(P<0.01).Conclusions:The clinical efficacy of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery in treating NSCLC is better than that of conventional open thoracic surgery, which has little complication and better value in clinic.
