    Effect of the ziprasidone combined with psychosocial intervention in the treatment of schizophrenia in children and adolescents

    • Objective: To observe the effects ziprasidone combined with psychosocial intervention in the treatment of schizophrenia in children and adolescents.Methods: Sixty children and adolescents with schizophrenia were randomly divided into the observation group and control group(30 cases each group).The control group were treated with ziprasidone,and the observation group were treated with ziprasidone combined with psychological intervention for 12 weeks.The curative effects,side reaction,self-knowledge,social dysfunction and recovery,and mind support status in two groups before treatment and after 12 weeks of treatment were evaluated using the positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS),insight and treatment attitude questionnaire(ITAQ),social disability screening schedule(SDSS),and perceived social support scale(PSSS),respectively.Results: Before the intervention,the differences of the total score and subscale score of PANSS,and scores of ITAQ,PSSS and SDSS between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The total and subscale scores of PANSS in two groups after the intervention were significantly than lower those before intervention(P<0.01),and the decreasing degree of which in observation group was more than that in control group(P<0.05 to P<0.01).The scores of ITAQ and PSSS in observation group after intervention were significantly higher than those before intervention(P<0.01),the SDSS score in observation group after intervention was significantly lower than that before intervention(P<0.01),and the differences of the scores of ITAQ,PSSS and SDSS in control group between before and after intervention were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions: The treatment of schizophrenia with ziprasidone combined with psychosocial intervention in children and adolescents can recover the self-knowledge,strengthen the social support system,and improve the social function,which is good treatment compliance and overall effect.
