The association between cognitive function and the serum levels of interleukin-6, interleukin-8 and homocystine in past-stroke depression patients

    • Objective:To investigate the relationships between the levels of interleukin(IL)-6,IL-8,homocystine(Hcy) and cognitive function in patients with post-stroke depression. Methods:The cognitive abilities of 200 patients with post-stroke depression were detected using the mini-mental state examination(MMSE).The logic ST model was established by the backward iteration method for screening common susceptible factors. The correlations between the levels of IL-6,IL-8 and Hcy,and cognitive function were analyzed. Results:The gender, age, blood loss, depression time, intraoperative anesthetic dosage, intraoperative bleeding, operation time, discharge time, mental disease, bad living habit, and levels of IL-6,IL-8 and Hcy were associated with the cognitive function declining. The weighting coefficients of Hcy,IL-6 and IL-8 were higher(2.485,2.547 and 2.641,respectively).Conclusions:The levels of IL-6,IL-8 and Hcy in patients with post-stroke depression maybe play a certain role in cognitive declining.
