Effect of different surgical approaches in the treatment of breast fibroma on the prognosis and nipple-areola cutaneous sensibility

    • Objective: To explore the effects of different surgical approaches in the treatment of breast fibroma on the prognosis and nipple-areola cutaneous sensibility. Methods: One hundred and four women with breast fibroma were randomly divided into the observation group and control group(52 cases each grop). The control group were treated with arc incision arround areola margin, and the observation group were treated with trans-areola incision. The operation time, perioperative bleeding, incision size, hospital stay, incision healing time, postoperative complications, recurrence rate, and sensory recovery time of the nipple and areola skin between two groups were compared. Results: The intraoperative bleeding and operation time in observation group were significantly less than those in control group(P<0.01).There was no statistical significance in the length of incision between two groups(P>0.05).The time of hospitalization and incision healing in observation group were significantly shorter than those in control group(P<0.01),the incidence rate of postoperative complication and recurrence rate in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.01 and P<0.05),and the satisfaction with scar in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.01).The difference of the sensory recovery time of nipple and areola skin between two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions: The trans-areola incision in the treatment of breast fibroma is good effect and prognosis, the nipple-areola cutaneous sensibility is well restored after operation.
