    Study on the palliative treatment and hospice care in 104 patients with advanced esophageal cancer

    • Objective: To evaluate the quality of life,observe the physiological,psychological and social role needs,and provide the related nursing measures for palliative treatment and hospice care in patients with advanced esophageal cancer.Methods: The prospective intervention study approach was employed.The quality of life in 53 patients with advanced esophageal cancer(observation group) were evaluated using WHOQOL-BREF scale,the comprehensive quality nursing measures were implemented in combination with other situation of patients,and the related nursing measure of hospice care was additionally implemented in critically severe patients.Fifty-one patients with advanced esophageal cancer were nursed with routine approach(control group).The quality of life between two groups at the end of nursing was compared.Results: The comparison results of the late life quality score showed that the differences of subjective feeling of health and life quality,physiological,psychological,social relations and environmental fields between two groups were statistically significant(P<0.01).Among a total of 24 evaluation items,the differences of the lose sleep and rest,dependence on drugs and treatment,life interest(positive emotion),spiritual support,interpersonal relations,pain and discomfort between two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions: The related nursing measures for palliative treatment and hospice care in patients with advanced esophageal cancer can maintain the physiological function,adjust state of mind,improve the social function and quality of life of patients.
