    The relationship between professional mission and academic engagement in rural order-oriented medical students: the intermediary function of hope

    • Objective:To explore the relationships between the professional mission,hope and academic engagement in medical students.Methods:Four hundred and ninety-three order-oriented medical students from three medical colleges and universities in Anhui province were measured using the professional mission scale,hope scale and academic engagement scale.Results:There was a positive correlation between career mission,hope and academic engagement(P<0.01).The professional mission had positive predicting effect on hope academic engagement and hope(P<0.01).After the introduction of intermediary variables hope,the effect of professional mission on academic engagement decreased,but still significant(P<0.01),and the hope played a part mediating role between career mission and academic engagement.Conclusions:The vocational mission education in order-oriented medical students can be conducive to improve the level of hope,and promote academic engagement.
