    Study on the relationship between the presenteeism behavior and job performance of operating room nurses in grade A tertiary hospitals

    • Objective: To study the relationship between the presenteeism behavior and work performance of operating room nurses in grade A tertiary hospitals.Methods: Two hundred and sixteen operating room nurses from 3 grade A tertiary hospitals were selected using the cluster sampling method,and investigated using the "presenteeism behavior questionnaire" and "job performance scale".Results: The scores of presenteeism behavior and job performance were(4.43±1.64) and(74.28±7.29),respectively.The presenteeism behavior score of contract nurses was higher than that of enrolled nurses(P<0.01),the presenteeism behavior score of nursing managers was higher than that of general nurses(P<0.05),and the presenteeism behavior score of nurses with bachelor degree or above was higher than that of nurses with college degree nurses(P<0.05).The scores of job performance and its each dimension of enrolled nurses were higher those of contract nurses(P<0.05 to P<0.01),and the score of job performance dimension of nurse practitioner,nurse-in-charge and above title nurses were higher that of general nurses(P<0.05).The presenteeism behavior in operating room nurses was negatively correlated with work performance and its dimension(P<0.01).Structural equation model showd that the presenteeism behavior performance had a direct negative effect on work,the standardized path coefficient was -0.561(P<0.01),and the "presenteeism" variables could explain the 31% "performance" of the variance.Conclusions: The job performance of operating room nurses in grade A tertiary hospitals is higher,and the presenteeism behavior situation is not optimistic.The presenteeism behavior has certain prediction effect on job performance.Nursing managers should focus on reducing the presenteeism behavior of operating room nurses,and further improve the nurses' job performance.
