Effect of rehabilitation therapy on motor function and activities of daily living in patients with unilateral spatial neglect after stroke

    • Objective:To investigate the effects of rehabilitation therapy on motor function and activities of daily living in patients with unilateral spatial neglect after stroke.Methods:Thirty-six patients with unilateral spatial neglect after stroke were treated with visual sensory, physical exercise and psychological rehabilitation. The recovery of motor function and activities of daily living between before and after treatment were compared. Results:The NIHSS scores after 1 month,2 months and 3 months of rehabilitation therapy were significantly lower than that before treatment(P<0.01),and the longer the rehabilitation treatment time, the lower the NIHSS score was(P<0.01).The BI score after treatment was significantly higher than that before treatment(P<0.01),but the difference of which at different time-points after treatment was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The difference of BI index between left-side and right-side spatial neglect patients was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions:The visual sensory, physical exercise and psychological rehabilitation in the treatment of unilateral spatial neglect can significantly improve motor function and activities of daily living, and effectively improve the quality of life in patients with stroke, which is worthy of promotion.
