    Study of the correlation between the preoperative plasma level of glutathione peroxidase-6 and occurrence of postoperative atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass grafting

    • Objective:To investigate the correlation between the preoperative plasma level of glutathione peroxidase-6(GPX6) and occurrence of postoperative atrial fibrillation(POAF) after coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG).Methods:Forty patients with POAF and 40 patients without POAF after CABG were divided into the POAF(+) group and POAF(-) group by nested case-control study.The plasma levels of GPX6 in two groups before operation were measured and compared.The correlation between GPX6 level and POAF was evaluated using multivariable analysis method,and the diagnostic value of GPX6 for POAF was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve analysis.Results:The plasma level of GPX6 in POAF(+) group was significantly higher than that in POAF(-) group(P<0.01).After some correlated variables were adjusted,the plasma level of GPX6 still was the independent predict factor of POAF(OR=1.10,95%CI 1.01 to 1.19,P<0.05).The ROC analysis demonstrated that the area under curve of GPX6 for POAF was 0.65(95%CI 0.53 to 0.77).Conclusions:The preoperative plasma level of GPX6 in patients with POAF after CABG is higher than that in patients without POAF,and GPX6 is an independent predict factor of POAF and has certain diagnostic value for POAF.
