Comparative analysis of the prognostic factors between male breast cancer and female breast cancer

ObjectiveTo compare the clinical manifestations and pathological features between male breast cancer(MBC) and female male breast(FBC), and explore the prognostic factors and treatment protocols of patients.

MethodsThe clinical data between 25 MBC patients and 50 matched FBC patients were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 software.The survival rates of all cases were calculated using Kaplan-Meier method, and compared using Log-rank test.The multivariate analysis was performed using Cox risk proportional regression model.

ResultsThe 5-year survival rate of the MBC group and FBC group were 40% and 62%, respectively.The results of single factor analysis showed that size of tumor, lymph node metastasis and TNM staging were related to the 5-year survival rate in male group(P < 0.05), and the size of tumor, lymph node metastasis, TNM staging and adjuvant endocrine therapy were related to the 5-year survival rate in FBC group(P < 0.05).The results of Cox regression analysis showed that the TNM staging and the size of tumor were the dependent influencing factor of the 5-year survival rates in FBC group.

ConclusionsThe TNM staging and the size of tumor are the dependent influencing factor of the 5-year survival rates in FBC group.
