Study on the correlation between preschool children's behavior development level and development of brain motor center

    • ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between the behavioral development level of preschool children and development of brain motor center.
MethodsA total of 46 children were randomly selected from the multi-center child care institutions. The preschool Children's Behavioral Development Measurement Scale was compiled. The scores of the behavioral development of subjects were evaluated by guardian and teachers to calculate the child behavior development index(compared with the level of behavioral development of children over 6 years old). The magnetic resonance imaging of the brain in all subjects were detected to quantitatively measure the nerve fiber bundles of behavioral cortex and related brain areas.
ResultsThe children's behavioral development index gradually increased with the increasing of age(except for aggressive behavior)(P < 0.01).The results of white matter fiber bundle diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) showed that the development of corticospinal tracts in older children were more fully than that in smaller age group(P < 0.01), and the multi-parameter variation of white matter DTI was positively and negatively correlated with fractional anisotropy fractional anisotropy(FA) value and average apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC) value, respectively(P < 0.01).The FA value acted as an "objective data" of children's behavioural abilities, and could be used as a reference in judging the children's behavioural anomalies to some extent.
ConclusionsThe level of child behavior development is positively correlated with the developmental level of the brain's motor center. The higher level of behavioral development is closely related to the developmental maturity of the white matter nerve fiber structure.
