    Clinical application value of breast imaging reporting and data system

    • ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical value of breast imaging reporting and data system(BI-RADS) classification in the judgement of benign and malignant nature of breast nodules.
      MethodsEighty-nine breast nodules in 53 patients were routinely examined using high-frequency color doppler ultrasonography, classified according to the BI-RADS, and compared with the pathological results.The ultrasonographic features of benign and malignant nodules were analyzed, and the clinical value of which in judging the benign and malignant nature of breast nodules was evaluated.
      ResultsThere were a total of 89 breast nodules in 53 cases.According to the classification of BI-RADS, 64 nodules were benign, and 25 nodules were malignant.Compared with the pathological results, the diagnosis of type 3 nodules was completely consistent with the pathological results.The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value in type 4-5 nodules were 95.6%, 82.1%, 81.5% and 88.4%, respectively.The differences in the morphology, microcalcification, margin, posterior echo, blood flow and axillary lymph nodes were statistically significant(P < 0.01).
      ConclusionsThe accuracy of BI-RADS classification is high.The means is an effective method in the diagnosis of breast diseases, which has great value in judging the benign and malignant nature of breast nodules.
