Experience of taking care of patients with malignant tumor in China:A Meta synthesis study

ObjectiveTo analyze the experience of taking care of patients with malignant tumor in China.

MethodsAll qualitative studies on the experience of taking care of patients with malignant tumor were searched from CNKI, Wanfang, CBM and VIP database, the qualitative evaluation was implemented using JBI critical appraisal tool, and the result of which was intergrated using the pooled integration approach.

ResultsA total of ten studies were investigated, and 40 complete findings were extracted.The similar results were combined to form 10 new categories, and which was integrated into two integrations:(1)caregivers not only experienced the complex negative emotion and psychological experience, but also undertook the heavy burden of care, physical and mind pressure, and financial stress; (2)caregivers longed for help, and grew by constant adjustment and adaptation.

ConclusionsThe negative emotion and burden of care in caregivers for malignant tumor are notable and heavy.It is demanded to improve the social support system, strengthen the guidance of disease-related knowledge and skill, and promote the growth of this group.
