Development and evaluation of stroke version Montreal cognitive assessment scale

    • ObjectiveTo revise the Montreal cognitive assessment scale for patients with ischemic stroke use, and evaluate its reliability and validity.
MethodsThe scale items were discussed and revised by a group of experts formed by literature review and Delphi method.Three hundred and sixty-nine ischemic stroke patients met with the inclusion criteria were investigated using a questionnaire, and the reliability and validity of the scale were evaluated using the classical measurement theory.
ResultsThe retest reliability, Cronbach's α value, Spearman-Brown coefficient and Guttman's half-reliability coefficient of the scale were 0.94, 0.82, 0.87 and 0.85, respectively, the results of which showed that the scale had good reliability. The results of correlation and exploratory factor analysis showed that the scale had good structural validity.
ConclusionsStroke version of Montreal cognitive assessment scale has good reliability and validity, which can be used as a tool to evaluate the cognitive function of patients with post-stroke cognitive impairment, yet it needs further improvement.
