    Application of acute debridement combined with recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor gel in the treatment of chronic wounds

    • ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of acute debridement combined with recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) gel in treating chronic wounds.
      MethodsFifty patients with chronic wounds in outpatient were randomly divided into the control group and observation group(25 cases in each group).The control group was treated with external use of bFGF and silver zinc antibacterial cream after conventional debridement of wounds, change of dressing once a day.The observation group was treated with the first acute acute debridement on the wound surface, followed by a routine dressing change.During each dressing change, the wound surface was wiped with a cotton ball until the blood was slightly soaked, the bFGF and silver zinc antibacterial cream were externally applied, and the dressing was changed once a day.If the wound surface could not be healed within 2 weeks, the acute debridement was performed again.The wound area and healing rate were compared between two groups after 2, 4, and 6 weeks of treatment.
      ResultsThe difference of the wound area between two groups after 2 weeks of treatment was statistically significant(P < 0.01).After 4 and 6 weeks of treatment, the wound areas in two groups significantly shrinked compared with at 2 weeks of treatment(P < 0.01), and which in observation group was significantly less than that in control group(P < 0.01).The difference of the healing rate of wound between two groups after 2 weeks of treatment was not statistically significant(P>0.05).After 4 and 6 weeks of treatment, the healing rates of wound in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P < 0.01).
      ConclusionThe acute debridement combined with bFGF can significantly promote the healing of chronic wound.
