Effect of tiotropium bromide combined with budesonide inhalation on the Cys-C, PCT and blood gas analysis in patients withAECOPD

    • ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of tiotropium bromide combined with budesonide inhalation on the levels of cystatin C(Cys-C), procalcitonin(PCT), and blood gas analysis in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD).
MethodsOne hundred and twenty patients with AECOPD were randomly divided into the observation group and control group(60 cases in each group). The control group was treated with budesonide aerosol, and the observation group was treated with tiotropium bromide combined with budesonide. The exercise tolerance, lung function index, dyspnea score, Cys-C and PCT levels, blood gas analysis before and after treatment, and adverse reactions were compared between two groups.
ResultsAfter treatment, all indexes in two groups significantly increased(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01), and the indexes in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).After treatment, the scores of dyspnea in two groups significantly decreased(P < 0.01), and which in observation group was lower than that in control group(P < 0.01).After treatment, the serum levels of Cys-C and PCT in two groups decreased(P < 0.01), and the indexes in observation group were lower than those in control group(P < 0.01).After treatment, the levels of SaO2 and PaO2 in two groups increased(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01), and the indexes in observation group were higher than those in control group(P < 0.01).After treatment, the level of PaCO2 in two groups decreased(P < 0.01), and which in observation group was lower than that in control group(P < 0.01).The difference of the incidence rate of complications between two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).
ConclusionsTiotropium bromide combined with budesonide can effectively alleviate the inflammatory reaction, reduce the levels of serum Cys-C and PCT, and improve respiratory function in patients with AECOPD, which is worthy of promotion.
