ObjectiveTo observe the efficacy of massage combined with horse chestnut cream imported by ultrasound in the treatment of chronic nonspecific low back pain.
MethodsEighty patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain were divided into the control group and observation group using random number table method(40 cases in each group). The control group was treated with massage, and the observation group was treated with massage combined with horse chestnut cream imported by ultrasound, one time every day, for 4 weeks. The total effective rate, visual analogue scale(VAS) score, lumbago disturbance index score(ODI) and quality of life rating scale(SF-36) score in two groups were evaluated before and after treatment.
ResultsAfter 4 weeks of treatment, the total effective rates of the control group and observation group were 67.5% and 90.0%, respectively, and the difference of which was statistically significant(P < 0.01).The differences of the VAS score, ODI score and SF-36 score between two groups were statistically significant after 4 weeks of treatment(P < 0.01).
ConclusionsThe massage combined with horse chestnut cream imported by ultrasound can reduce the pain degree, and significantly improve the lumbar function and overall quality of life of patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain.
