Effect of mindfulness training combined with intermittent pneumatic compression on the painful experience and curative effect in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy

    • ObjectiveTo explore the effects of mindfulness training based on the "meta-awareness" combined with Intermittent pneumatic compression(IPC)on the painful experience and curative effect in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).
MethodsOne hundred patients met with DPN criteria were divided into the observation group(50 cases)and control group(50 cases)according to random number table. Two groups were treated with glucose-lowering, pressure-lowering, neutritionalizing nerve, improving circulation, IPC and routine health education, and the observation group was additionally treated with mindfulness training based on the "meta-awareness" combined with IPC.The curative effects after 2 weeks of intervention, and psychological pain score after 12 weeks of intervention in two groups were evaluated.
ResultsThe differences of the general data, psychological pain score and related indicators between two groups before intervention were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The curative effects after 2 weeks of intervention, and psychological pain score improvement after 12 weeks of intervention between two groups were statistically significant(P < 0.05).
ConclusionsThe mindfulness training based on "meta-awareness" combined with IPC can effectively guide DPN patients to enter the mindfulness training, change the behavior pattern, improve the nerve conduction velocity of the lower extremity of DPN patients, improve the uncomfortable symptoms, and reduce the painful experience.
