ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between protection motivation and healthy behavior in high risk patients with stroke.
MethodsA total of 121 patients with high-risk stroke, who were screened and followed up in the stroke nursing clinic, were selected as the study objects using the convenient sampling method. The general data questionnaire, protection motivation questionnaire(PMQ-SHRP)and stroke health behavior scale(HBS-SP)were used to investigate the protection motivation and healthy behavior of the high-risk population, and the relationship between protection motivation and healthy behavior was analyzed.
ResultsThe total score of protection motivation was(184.38±14.25)points, and the average score of items was(3.76±0.29)points.The total score of healthy behavior was(76.93±10.46)points, and the average score of items was(3.08±0.42)points.The protection motivation was positively correlatied with healthy behavior(P < 0.01).The internal and external rewards, response costs and self-efficacy dimensions of protection motivation were positively correlated with healthy behavior(P < 0.01).
ConclusionsImproving the awareness of the severity, susceptibility and response efficiency of stroke high-risk population can reduce the internal and external rewards and response costs, and enhance self-efficacy to promote the protection motivation and establish healthy behaviors.
