Effect of arthroscopic debridement combined with sodium hyaluronate on the levels of ICAM-1 and IL-6 in synovial fluid of patients with knee osteoarthritis

ObjectiveTo observe the effects of arthroscopic debridement combined with sodium hyaluronate on the levels of intercellular adhesion molecule(ICAM)-1 and interleukin(IL-6)in synovial fluid and complications after treatment in patients with knee osteoarthritis.

MethodsA total of 106 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into the control group and observation group(53 cases in each group).The control group was treated with joint debridement, and the observation group was treated with joint debridement combined with sodium hyaluronate.The levels of ICAM-1 and IL-6 in synovial fluid, and complications after treatment in two groups were observed.

ResultsBefore treatment, the differences of the levels of ICAM-1 and IL-6 in synovial fluid were not statistically significance between two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the levels of ICAM-1 and IL-6 in synovial fluid in two groups significantly decreased, and the levels of ICAM-1 and IL-6 in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P < 0.05 and P < 0.01).Three cases with hematoma in observation group and 5 cases with hematoma in control group were found.Four cases with joint pain in observation group and 7 cases with joint pain in control group were found, and the difference of which was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Two cases with joint mobility disorder in observation group and 8 cases with joint mobility disorder in control group were found, and the difference of which was statistically significant(P < 0.05).

ConclusionsArthroscopic debridement combined with sodium hyaluronate in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis can significantly improve the clinical effect, reduce the content of ICAM-1 and IL-6 in synovial fluid, and improve the prognosis of patients.
