Effect of the family-centered systematic health education on medication complicance and physical health status in children with active epilepsy

    • ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of family-centered systematic health education on medication complicance and physical health status in children with active epilepsy.
MethodsNinety children with epilepsy were randomly divided into the observation group and control group(45 cases in each group). The control group was treated with routine care and therapy, and the observation group was treated with family-centered systematic health education for the children and parents for 6 months. The medication compliance, disease understanding and health status of epilepsy were compared between two groups before intervention and after 6 months of discharge.
ResultsThere was no statistical significance in the mastery of epilepsy knowledge and medication compliance between two groups before intervention(P>0.05).After the intervention, the degree of mastery of epilepsy and medication compliance in the observation group were significantly better than those before intervention(P < 0.01).Before and after the intervention, there was no statistical significance in the physical health in two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the physical health in two groups were significantly better than that before intervention(P < 0.05).
ConclusionsFamily-centered systematic health education can effectively improve the treatment compliance and related knowledge of children.
