Development and test of reliability and validity of a questionnaire for occupational exposure to infectious diseases in medical workers

    • ObjectiveTo prepare a "Risk Questionnaire of Infectious Occupational Exposure of Medical Workers" for comprehensive assessing the risk of occupational exposure to infectious pathogens among medical workers, and evaluate the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.
MethodsThe "Risk Questionnaire of Infectious Occupational Exposure of Medical Workers" was developed and designed using the literature research method and expert consultation method. The medical workers in a grad A tertiary medical institution were investigated, the items were screened by item and factor analysis, and the internal consistency, split-half reliability and structural validity were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 statistical software.
ResultsThe "Risk Questionnaire of Infectious Occupational Exposure of Medical Workers" included 6 dimensions and 50 items. The total Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.972, and the Cronbach's α coefficient of each dimension was between 0.736 and 0.973.The split-helf reliability coefficient of the questionnaire and each dimension were 0.973 and 0.925, respectively, and the correlation coefficient between two was 0.751.The KMO test statistic was 0.965, the χ2 value of Bartlett sphere test was 22 562.451, and the df was 1 176(P < 0.001).The Kaiser normalized orthogonal rotation of questionnaire was implemented using principal component analysis, a total of 6 principal component factors were converged and extracted after 13 iterations, and the contribution rate of which was 68.044%.
ConclusionsThe "Risk Questionnaire of Infectious Occupational Exposure of Medical Workers" designed by the research team has good reliability and validity, which can be used as an assessment tool to evaluate the risk of infectious occupational exposure of medical workers.
