Analysis of the influencing factors of activity of daily living in patients with ischemic stroke

    • ObjectiveTo explore the influencing factors of activity of daily living(ADL) in patients with ischemic stroke.
MethodsThe demography, living habits, past medical history and clinical disease data in 511 patients with ischemic stroke were investigated using questionnaire.According to the Barthel index(BI) score, 406 patients with good ADL(BI ≥ 60 points) and 105 patients with poor ADL(BI < 60 points) were divided into two groups. The influencing factors of ADL in patients with ischemic stroke were analyzed.
ResultsThe differences of the Oxford-shire community stroke typing, balance ability, cognitive function and National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS) score between two groups were statistically significant(P < 0.05).The results of logistic regression analysis showed that the balance ability and admission NIHSS score were the independent risk factors affecting ADL in patients with ischemic stroke(P < 0.05).
ConclusionsThe balance ability and admission NIHSS score are the independent factors affecting ADL in patients with ischemic stroke.
