Effect of local acupoint pressing combined with aromatherapy on chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients with malignant blood diseases

    • ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of local acupoint pressing combined with aromatherapy on chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients with malignant blood diseases.
MethodsSixty-five patients with malignant blood diseases who received chemotherapy in the hematology department were selected by convenient sampling and divided into control group(n=35) and intervention group(n=30) according to the treatment time. The control group was treated with routine drug intervention and health education, and the intervention group was treated with local acupoint pressing combined with aromatherapy such as lemon tablet, ginger and mint on the basis of the control group. The degree of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, quality of life and anxiety were compared between the two groups within 24 hours after chemotherapy.
ResultsThe degree of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting and anxiety in intervention group within 24 hours after chemotherapy were significantly lower than those in control group, and the quality of life was significantly higher than that in control group(P < 0.01).
ConclusionsThe non-drug intervention measure of local acupoint pressing combined with aromatherapy can effectively alleviate the symptoms of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients with malignant blood diseases, improve the patients' quality of life and sense of comfort, and reduce anxiety and other psychological burdens.
