Effect of epidural analgesia delivery on pregnancy outcome of primiparas

    • ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of epidural analgesia delivery on pregnancy outcome of primiparas.
MethodsThe clinical data of 436 primiparas were analyzed retrospectively. The 184 cases treated with epidural anesthesia painless delivery and 252 cases tretaed with normal delivery were divided into the observation group and control group, espectively. The two groups were compared before and after delivery.
ResultsThe differences of the third stage of labor, postpartum blood loss and neonatal Apgar score between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The time of the first stage of labor, time of the second stage of labor, degree of pain, rate of cesarean section, length of hospital stay and rate of maternal and infant complications in observation group were lower than those in control group(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).The rate of cesarean section in the observation group was 5.98%, which was lower than that in control group(14.29%) (P < 0.01).
ConclusionsEpidural analgesia can improve the delivery outcome of primipara.
