Correlation analysis of the platelet distribution width and Killip grading in elderly patients with acute non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

    • ObjectiveTo study the correlation between the platelet distribution width(PDW) and Killip gerading in the elderly patients with acute non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(NSTEMI).
MethodsOne hundred and fifty-eight elderly patients with acute NSTEMI were divided into 4 groups according to the Killip grading Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ of cardiac function. The clinical data of all patients were recorded, and the PDW in four groups were measured. The Spearman rank correlation was used to analyze the correlation between PDW and Killip grading in elderly patients with acute NSTEMI.
ResultsThe PDW increased gradually with the increasing of Killip grading Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ(P < 0.01).The results of Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the PDW was positively correlated with cardiac function Killip grading(rs=0.792, P < 0.01).
ConclusionsThe PDW is positively correlated with Killip grading in elderly patients with acute NSTEMI, which may be one of the prognostic indexes for evaluating cardiac function.
