    Theoretical thinking and path analysis of strengthening medical students' innovation and entrepreneurship training

    • ObjectiveTo summarize the overall project establishment and topic selection in various directions and fields of the innovation and entrepreneurship training program among medical college students("innovation program"), and to comprehensively explore the implementation and topic selection.
      MethodsTwo hundred and fourty-three national innovation programs of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from 2008 to 2021 were classified.The number of projects in different years and students' characteristics were compared.The topics were grouped into categories and subcategories, and the percentage of topics in each category and its change with years were analyzed.
      ResultsStudents from five-year education system, Chinese class and majoring in clinical medicine had the largest number in participating in the innovation program.The percentage of basic research projects was much higher than that of clinical research and translational research.And the percentage of basic research projects increased year by year.According to more detailed classification, the percentage of both pathogenesis research and modeling/diagnosis research increased.
      Conclusions"Innovation program" for medical students is conducive to help students choose their majors and better promote the development of medical science.
