ObjectiveTo explore the mediating effect of depression between restricted diet and control status of diabetes mellitus.
MethodsConvenience sampling was used in this study. The self-designed general information questionnaire, self-rating depression scale(SDS), three-factor eating questionnaire(TFEQ) and control status scale for diabetics(CSSD70) were filled out by all participants.
ResultsFor all the participants, the overall score of SDS, TFEQ, and CSSD70 were(40.39±7.78), (9.58±3.06) and(43.84±9.59) points, respectively.Pearson correlation analysis showed that depression was positively correlated with restricted diet(r=0.233, P < 0.01) and negatively correlated with control status of diabetes mellitus(r=-0.237, P < 0.01).The mediating effect test showed that depression had a complete mediating effect between restricted diet and control status of diabetes mellitus, and the mediating rate was 51.81%.
ConclusionsThe depression was an intermediary variable mediating the relationship between restricted diet and control status of diabetes mellitus.
