Incidence and mortality of oral cancer in the northern area of Anhui Province in 2015-2020

ObjectiveTo analyze the incidence and mortality of oral cancer in the northern area of Anhui Province in 2015-2020.

MethodsThe new cases and deaths of oral cancer in the northern area of Anhui Province from 2015 to 2020 were collected, and the incidence, mortality, cumulative rate(0-74 years old), truncation rate (35-64 years old) and other indicators of oral cancer were calculated.The Chinese population census in 2010 and Segi's world population were used for standardized rate.

ResultsA total of 2 602 new oral cancer cases and 867 oral cancer deaths were collected in the northern area of Anhui Province from 2015 to 2020.The incidence of oral cancer, the age-standardized rate of incidence by Chinese standard population (ASRIC) and by world standard population (ASRIW), cumulative rate (0-74 years old), truncation rate(35-64 years old) were 9.37/10⁵, 9.65/10⁵, 7.66/10⁵, 0.94%, and 12.13/10⁵, respectively.The incidence and ASRIC of oral cancer in urban areas were 6.21/10⁵ and 6.06/10⁵, the incidence and ASRIC of oral cancer in rural residents were 12.42/10⁵ and 13.76/10⁵, and the incidence of oral cancer in rural residents was higher than that in urban areas.The incidence and ASRIC of oral cancer in male were 11.52/10⁵ and 11.82/10⁵, the incidence and ASRIC of oral cancer in female was 7.19/10⁵ and 7.43/10⁵, and the incidence of oral cancer in male was higher than that in female.The mortality of oral cancer, the age-standardized rate of incidence by ASRMC and by ASRMW, cumulative rate(0-74 years old), truncation rate(35-64 years old) were 3.12/10⁵, 3.20/10⁵, 2.54/10⁵, 0.32%, 3.81/10⁵, respectively.From 2015 to 2020, the total incidence rate of oral cancer in northern area of Anhui Province had an increased trend in 6 years, and the total mortality rate was relatively stable.The incidence rate and mortality of oral cancer fluctuated with age.

ConclusionsOral cancer is one of the malignant tumors threatening the health of northern area of Anhui Province.Oral health education can be actively carried out and preventive measures can be strengthened as the focus of oral cancer prevention and control in northern area of Anhui Province.
