ObjectiveTo explore the problems faced by local university about the integration of higher medical education in the Yangtze River Delta, and accelerate the high-quality development of integration of higher medical education in the Yangtze River Delta.
MethodsA total of 2 789 people, including 2 385 students, 298 teachers and 106 administrators from a university in Bengbu were selected as the respondents, and investigated by cross-sectional questionnaire.The survey contents included demographic information, cognition and willingness dimension of the integration of higher medical education in the Yangtze River Delta.The data were graded by quartile method and analyzed by rank sum test.
ResultsThe survey showed that the awareness rate of the students in the Yangtze River Delta region was 79.87% (1 905/2 385), and the overall high willingness was 24.78% (591/2 385).The awareness rate of the teachers in the Yangtze River Delta region was 93.96% (280/298), the understanding rate of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region was 50.00% (149/298), and the willingness to develop higher education integration above the secondary level in the Yangtze River Delta region accounted for 80.54% (240/298).The awareness rate of the administrators to the general council meeting of the Yangtze River Delta Medical Education Alliance was 59.4% (63/106), and the high willingness for the development of the university was 89.62% (95/106).In the student group, the proportion of female's high cognition of the development measures of the integration of higher medical education in the Yangtze River Delta, high cognition of the development measures of the university, overall high cognition, high willingness for the development trend, high willingness for the development expectations for the university, high willingness for the development advantages for the university, and the development obstacle 2 was higher than that of male (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01);the proportion of student cadres' high awareness of the development purpose of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, high cognition for the development measure, high cognition for the development measure for the university, overall high cognition, high willingness for the development trend, high willingness for the development expectations for the university, development for the university, high willingness for the development advantage for the university, and overall high willingness was higher than that of ordinary students (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).In the teacher group, the proportion of teachers within 30-45 years old having high cognition for the development measure, overall high cognition, willingness of development obstacle 2, high willingness for the development advantage for the university and so on was higher than that of teachers of other ages (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01);senior executives had a higher understanding of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta than other professional titles (P < 0.01).In the administrator group, the overall high cognition level of the affiliated units was higher than that of other types of departments (P < 0.05);the cognition of female managers' for the development purpose of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, cognition level for the development policy was higher than that of male managers (P < 0.01 and P < 0.05);the proportion of department-level administrator having medium cognition for the development measure, medium willingness for the personal development gains was higher than others (P < 0.05).
ConclusionsThe students do not fully understand the integration of higher medical education in the Yangtze River Delta, the teachers do not fully develop the spirit of innovation and strengthen the top-level design, and the administrators do not deeply understand the integration of higher medical education in the Yangtze River Delta, but they are willing to join.
