Correlation analysis between the target time in range of type 2 diabetes mellitus and glycosylated hemoglobin

    • ObjectiveTo analyze the correlation between the target time in range(TIR) and glycosylated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).
MethodsOne hundred and forty-two patients with T2DM were divided into the group A(HbA1c < 7.0%), group B(7% ≤ HbA1c < 9%) and group C(HbA1c ≥ 9%) according to the level of HbA1c.The patients were monitored for 72 hours. The differences of the TIR, mean value of blood glucose monitoring(MBG), estimated glycosylated hemoglobin(eHbA1c), standard deviation(SD), coefficient of variation(CV), mean blood glucose fluctuation(MAGE) and fasting blood glucose(PG) were compared among three groups, and the effects of TIR on HbA1c was investigated.
ResultsThe differences of the gender, age, course of disease, BMI, SBP, DBP and CV among group A, group B and group C were not statistically significant(P>0.05), but the differences of the HbA1c, eHbA1c, MBG, SD, MAGE, TIR and PG among three groups were statistically significant(P < 0.01).HbA1c was negatively correlated with the TIR(P < 0.01), and positively correlated with the PG, MBG, CV and eHbA1c(P < 0.01).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the PG and TIR were the influencing factors of HbA1c.
ConclusionsTIR is negatively correlated with HbA1c.PG and TIR are the influencing factors of HbA1c.
