Relationship between social support and lack of ambition in patients with advanced lung cancer: the mediating role of psychological capital

ObjectiveTo explore the mediating role of psychological capital in the lack of ambition and social support for patients with advanced lung cancer.

MethodsConvenience sampling was used to conduct questionnaire survey on 221 patients with advanced lung cancer in general data table, dementia scale, psychological capital scale and social support scale.

ResultsThe level of unconsciousness in patients with advanced lung cancer surveyed was negatively correlated with social support and psychological capital level (P < 0.01).The psychological capital of advanced lung cancer patients was positively correlated with social support (P < 0.01).Psychological capital played a partial mediating role in the lack of ambition and social support in patients with advanced lung cancer, accounting for 40.06% of the total effect.

ConclusionsIn the daily work, medical staff should focus on improving the psychological capital level of patients with advanced lung cancer to reduce the incidence of asymptomatic syndrome in patients with advanced lung cancer, reduce the incidence of suicide, and improve the mental health of patients with advanced lung cancer.
