    Effects of Tongyuan method acupuncture on TCM syndrome score, THI score and sleep quality in patients with nervous tinnitus of damage of kidney-essence type

    • ObjectiveTo explore the effect of Tongyuan method acupuncture on the clinical efficacy of patients with nervous tinnitus of damage of kidney-essence type.
      MethodsEighty patients with nervous tinnitus were randomly divided into control group and study group, with 40 cases in each group.The control group was treated with conventional treatment, and the study group was treated with conventional treatment combined with Tongyuan method acupuncture.The curative effect, TCM syndrome score, tinnitus handicap index (THI) score, and sleep quality were compared between the two groups.
      ResultsThe total effective rate in the study group was 97.50%, which was higher than 82.50% in the control group (P < 0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in TCM syndrome scores, THI and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) scores between the two groups (P>0.05).After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores, THI and PSQI scores of the two groups decreased (P < 0.05), and which in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).
      ConclusionsTongyuan method acupuncture has a good effect on patients with nervous tinnitus of damage of kidney-essence type, which can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and sleep quality of patients, and reduce the degree of tinnitus disorders.
