Comparison of two PFNA locking techniques in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures of the femur

    • ObjectiveTo explore the therapeutic effects of two types of proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) locking techniques in intertrochanteric fractures of the femur.
MethodsOne hundred cases of intertrochanteric fractures of the femur were selected, including 50 cases of PFNA distal locking treated with static and dynamic locking as the observation group, and 50 cases treated with dynamic locking as the control group. The fracture healing time, postoperative complications, hip joint function, and patient's satisfaction were compared between the two groups.
ResultsBoth groups received effective follow-up for more than 12 months, and the fracture healing time in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group (P < 0.01);The hip joint function score at 12 months after surgery was 94.00%, which was superior to the control group by 68.00% (P < 0.05);the total patientt satisfaction was 50.00%, which was better than that of 44.00%the control group (P < 0.05);there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of fracture complications between the two groups of patients (P>0.05).
ConclusionsCompared with simple dynamic locking, PFNA static and dynamic distal locking can shorten the healing time of femoral intertrochanteric fracture and restore hip function better.
