Study on the correlation between the serum levels of C-reactive protein, ferritin and risk of gestational diabetes mellitus in early pregnancy

ObjectiveTo explore the predictive value of serum levels of C-reactive protein(CRP) and ferritin in early pregnancy on gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM), and provide a theoretical basis for clinical prevention and treatment of GDM.

MethodsThe clinical data of healthy pregnant women and GDM pregnant women, and serum samples at 10 weeks of gestation were collected.The serum levels of CRP and ferritin, fasting blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin were detected.

ResultsThe serum levels of CRP and ferritin in pregnant women with GDM were significantly higher than those in healthy pregnant women(P < 0.01).Both the serum levels of CRP and ferritin were positively correlated with the fasting blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin of pregnant women with GDM(P < 0.01).The results of ROC curve analysis showed that the combination detection of serum CRP and ferritin had certain clinical value in the early prediction of GDM(P < 0.05).

ConclusionsThe changes of serum levels of CRP and ferritin in early pregnancy are closely related to the GDM.The serum CRP and ferritin have a certain value in predicting the onset of GDM, and the combination of the two is more effective in predicting the onset of GDM.
