    Analysis of the correlation between adiponectin gene polymorphism and prognosis of rectal adenoma resection

    • Objective To investigate the correlation between adiponectin (APN) gene polymorphism and prognosis of rectal adenoma (RA) resection.
      Methods A total of 97 RA patients who underwent resection were selected.According to the prognosis, 52 patients with recurrent RA were taken as the observation group and 45 patients without recurrence were taken as the control group.The distribution frequency of polymorphic genes at rs2241766 locus of APN gene was detected by polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RELP), and the correlation between APN single nucleotide polymorphic genotypes and prognosis of RA resection was analyzed.
      Results There were TT wild type, TG heterozygote and GG homozygote at rs2241766 locus of APN gene.The genotypes of rs2241766 locus of APN in the control group and the observation group were in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium law.There were significant differences in the genotype and allele frequency of rs2241766 locus of APN gene between the two groups (P < 0.01).Compared with the wild TT type, the number of adenomas, the maximum and average diameter of adenomas in the mutant heterozygous TG type and the mutant homozygous GG type were significantly increased (P < 0.05).Compared with the heterozygous TG type, the number of adenomas, the maximum and average diameter of adenomas in homozygous GG type were significantly increased (P < 0.05).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that TG and GG mutations at rs2241766 locus of APN gene were the risk factors for recurrence after RA resection (P < 0.01).
      Conclusions The rs2241766 polymorphism of APN gene is associated with the prognosis of RA resection.
