The evaluation index analysis of medical university journal based on regression model

    • Objective  To analyze the evaluation indexes of sci-tech periodicals, understand the interaction among the indexes, so as to promote the periodicals to grasp the direction of construction and improve the quality of periodicals.
Methods  The journal of medical university in recent five years was selected as the sample, and the three categories of journal citation index, journal source index and journal comprehensive evaluation index of China Science and Technology Journal Citation Report(Core Edition) were selected as the index system. After statistical analysis of the sample data, the indicators consistent with normal distribution were selected for correlation analysis. The influence coefficient of each index on journal quality was calculated by using stepwise regression model.
Results  The core openness factor, number of core citations, core diffusion factor, ratio of funded papers and average number of authors were significantly correlated with the comprehensive index of periodicals(total core citations frequency, core impact factor, subject diffusion index and subject impact index). The total core citation frequency of the comprehensive evaluation index was mainly affected by the core opening factor(regression coefficient -10.68) and number of core citations(regression coefficient 5.277).The core influence factor was mainly affected by the core immediate year index(regression coefficient 1.031).The subject diffusion index was mainly affected by the ratio of funds to papers(regression coefficient 0.983).The VIF values of all indicators in the research model were < 5, which indicated independent samples and ideal model.
Conclusions  Journal evaluation is not only related to citations and impact factors, but also needs to take into account various indicators of the source of the article.Through the analysis of the evaluation index, it is found that encouraging paper cooperation and fund support, paying attention to the quality and quantity of article citations and expanding high-quality manuscript sources for the whole country have positive significance to improve the comprehensive level of medical university journals.
