Application value of 3D printing preoperative planning model in standardized clinical training and teaching of pelvic acetabular fractures

    • Objective To explore the application effect of 3D printing preoperative planning technology in clinical teaching of pelvic acetabular fractures.
Methods The standardized training doctors from the orthopaedics department were selected as the study subjects, and randomly divided into the observation group and control group(27 people each group). The control group received the traditional methods for clinical teaching, and the observation group received traditional methods combined with 3D printing preoperative planning pelvic acetabular fracture model for clinical teaching. The teaching effects in two groups were evaluated by clinical examination results and questionnaires.
Results The scores of theoretical examination and clinical case examination in the observation group were higher than those in control group, the difference of case examination results between two groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05), while there was no statistical significance in the theoretical examination between two groups(P > 0.05). The survey results showed that the students' interest in this specialty, understanding of the mechanism of fracture injury, understanding of fracture classification, understanding of fracture reduction methods, and understanding and mastering of surgical incision selection in the observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).
Conclusions The 3D printing preoperative planning technology can supplement the shortcomings of traditional pelvic acetabular fracture teaching, increase students' interest and improve the teaching effect, and which can be used as an important auxiliary teaching method.
