Study on the 3D construction and visualization of cerebral inferior frontal sulcus

    • Objective To construct the 3D visualization model of inferior frontal sulcus for providing the guidance in the 3D stereotactic therapy of lesions around the inferior frontal sulcus.
Methods The head MRI scans in 1 healthy volunteer was collected, the inferior frontal sulcus, precentral sulci, lateral ventricle and brain surface profile were manually separated using different colors by 3D-Doctor software, and the boundaries were extracted. The 3D visualization of inferior frontal sulcus was reconstructed using two kinds of algorithms with "voxel reconstruction" and "fully complex surface rendering".
Results The adjacent relationships of the central sulcus, anterior sulcus, superior frontal sulcus and inferior frontal sulcus could be clearly displayed through the method of "voxel reconstruction", and the method was the simple operation and fast drawing speed. The position, morphological features and running conditions of brain structures could be clearly displayed through the method of "full complex surface rendering".The target area could be accurately calculated, and the surrounding structures could be visualized by this method.
Conclusions Based on different algorithms, the 3D visualization model can meet different clinical needs, and provide reference for the formulation of 3D stereotactic therapy program.
