Development of disease cognition questionnaire for stroke patients based on the knowledge, attitude, practice model, and its reliability and validity test

    • Objective To develop a disease cognition questionnaire suitable for stroke patients in China and test its reliability and validity.
Methods Using the knowledge, attitude, practice model as the theoretical framework, an initial questionnaire was formed by combining literature review, semi-structured interview, expert inquiry, and presurvey.Using convenience sampling method, 260 stroke patients from June to August 2022 were selected for item analysis and reliability and validity test; 200 stroke patients who visited the hospital from September to October 2022 were selected for confirmatory factor analysis.
Results The questionnaire had good reliability and validity. The Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.978, and the Cronbach's α coefficient of each dimension was 0.866-0.985;the split-half reliability was 0.785, and the split-half reliability of each dimension was 0.865-0.974;the test-retest reliability was 0.960, and the test-retest reliability of each dimension was 0.924-0.948;the scale-level content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.87, and the item-level content validity index (I-CVI) was 0.80-1.00;KMO value was 0.960, and χ2 value of Bartlett's sphericity test was 17 239.25 (P < 0.01).Three common factors were extracted after the second rotation, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 78.748%.The standardized load value was 0.820-0.943 (P < 0.01), χ2/df was 2.457, RMSEA was 0.086, IFI was 0.903, CFI was 0.903, TLI was 0.898.
Conclusions The developed disease cognition questionnaire for stroke patients has good reliability and validity, and can be used to evaluate the disease cognition level of stroke patients, providing a scientific evaluation tool for clinical evaluation of the disease cognition level of stroke patients.
